The book of Lamentations is surprisingly very applicable because it was written in Jerusalem after it was destroyed by its enemies—and the author finds hope in God. As we finish celebrating Jesus’ first coming, we invite you to consider precisely why Jesus came to earth in the first place. There’s so much hope for the sinner in considering these things! But there’s also a call: a call to repent of sin and believe the gospel. And it’s this call which our Residential Counseling Director, Luke Imperato, gives in today’s sermon.

Do you realize just how involved God has been in your life? But we’re here to tell you that real and lasting freedom doesn’t come from those things alone. Psalm 139 shows us the true key to victory: an intimate knowledge of God and His intimate knowledge of you.
In today’s sermon, Steve Gallagher breaks down David’s powerful prayer at the end of this psalm and calls all who battle with sexual sin to earnestly seek the Lord with that same prayer.

Sexual sin is not the only sin which struggling believers deal with. But some other sins are more hidden. Overcoming sexual sin can feel overwhelming to the believer stuck in cycles of failure. This defeatist attitude stems from a wrong way of looking. We look too much at ourselves and at our own weakness. But Scripture reveals that victory over any form of sin comes not from our strength, but from God’s power and might!
Asbury Professor Emeritus, Steve Seamands, explains God’s way to victory using the backstory to Joshua’s battle against Jericho. You’ll see that these things were, as the apostle Paul wrote, “written down for our instruction”.

Sexual sin causes destruction in people’s lives. But the good news is that God does redeem sexual sinners! He just has to start the process by dealing heavily with our sin—something that really puts it to death. But this will produce spiritual life if we respond with repentance and faith.

Christians in sexual sin have more in common with the older brother than with the prodigal son. Although the older brother remained in the father’s house, he was just as spiritually disconnected from his father as his prodigal brother. Sin always separates people from God, whether they’re in church or not. 💀
In today’s message, Steve Gallagher explains the older brother’s case, calling people to reject lifeless religion and to return to the Father.
